Music Aid has worked with children in need since the organization launched in 1998 with a project in SE Asia that provided schooling, uniforms, books, school bags and shoes for hundreds of poor village children.
Since that time Music Aid has worked on many child aid projects and it is a strong supporter of UNICEF – The United Nations International Children´s Emergency Fund. UNICEF is an official beneficiary cause of both World Concert Day and Music Aid 2022 – events where thousands of musicians and fans are encouraged to donate directly to this cause.
GLOBAL REACH MUSIC NETWORK
Music Aid designed this program to provide every child with access to free music lessons through an international network of music teachers, schools and community programs using the latest music professional teaching techniques, resources, software and support. Every teacher, school, and community group leader, in every country, can apply to become part of this free international program. In poor remote rural areas this program provides village schools and children with something they could never afford or dream of – life enhancing music classes that children love. It also provides work opportunities and support for musicians and teachers.
CHILD AID AND CHILD LINE INTERNATIONAL
In early 2022, funded by the Music Aid 2022 event, the Child Aid App and Childline International go live. The app provides an instant way for supporters to connect with all of the worlds biggest children´s charities and their projects and make secure donations or support their programs in other ways. Childline International provides a service to children in need world wide and links them immediately by live chat or text to a local counsellor and to local organisations who can help with their situation and problems. Both these apps are currently being built and go live in January 2022.
MORE CHILD AID PROGRAMS
Many other child aid programs are supported by Music Aid events. Every year on 26 April World Concert Day for example supports and raises funds for direct field work and street programs, local hospices, major charities such as Save The Children and UNICEF, and programs like Because International and The Shoe That Grows among others.
